Of his concepts are<br>Necropolitics and his Politics of enmity (recently translated into German as Politik der Feindschaft). In Politics of enmity he refers to the eminent postcolonial thinker Frantz Fanon, esp. his psychological writings. Reading both authors together we will be able to understand epistemological tools needed in the contemporary situation. Mbembe\u2019s thoughts are indispensable for postcolonial thought.<br><br>R\u00fcdiger Lohlker was Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Vienna until his retirement in 2024. He now serves as a professorial research fellow at the Research Center &#8216;Religion and Transformation in Contemporary Society&#8217; (RaT), as a board member of R20, and in many other functions internationally.<br>He has been teaching at several universities. His areas of research are history of Islamic ideas, Islamic law, Sufism, Islam and modernity (online and offline), extremism, Indonesian Islam, critique of Orientalism.<br><br>\ud83d\udc9b FAIHS is working to make more space for decolonial topics at the University of Vienna.
